Information on downloading and installation

Downloading and extracting
The download file is a compressed ZIP archive So that the data in it can be used, it must be completely extracted after downloading. In Windows XP no other programs are required for this. In older versions of Windows and alternative operating systems, you need an additional program for extracting (e.g. "UnZip", "UltimateZip", "WinZip", "WinRAR", etc, most of which are available cost-free and legally from the Internet, either as full versions or as restricted demo versions.
  • In Windows XP a click on the download link is sufficient to open the ZIP archive. Depending the nature of your Internet access this can take a while (with dial-up modem connections up to 20 minutes, several seconds on broadband connections). When the ZIP archive has been opened, copy the folders and files in it all together into another or a new folder of your choice.
  • For other operating systems, depending on the extra program, you need to save the download file onto your hard disk and then open it with the extra program. You then extract all the contents of the ZIP archive into another folder or a new folder of your choice following the instructions for the extra program.
Using the extracted data
When you have extracted all the data into a folder, you can open the file contained in it, “omniplus-obd_EN.htm“ (omniplus-obd_EN), for access to the OBD data even without an online connection. All you need to do this is an HTML browser (e.g. "Internet Explorer", "Netscape Navigator", "Mozilla", "Firefox", "Opera", "Safari" etc.) and a display program for PDF files (e.g. "Adobe Acrobat Reader").

Mobile use
You can also use the extracted data on mobile devices (e.g. Notebook, handheld PDA, Palm, PocketPC, Smartphone etc). There must be a suitable HTML browser on the device and a PDF display program installed, and it must be possible to transfer the data to the device.
A suitable cable or a docking station and a socalled synchronisation program for transferring data are supplied with some portable devices. Alternatively, removable storage media (such as CDROM, USB stick, Compact Flash, MultiMediaCard, SecureDigital, MemoryStick) can be used for transferring or storing data on many portable devices.
Note that there are approximately 34 MB of data to be transferred. For information on how to carry out the data transfer in each case, please see the user information supplied with your portable device.
It is important that the data is transferred to the storage medium or the portable device as it was extracted, i.e. all the folders and files in the ZIP archive together. Further, you need to be able to open/start the file “omniplus-obd_EN.htm“ (omniplus-obd_EN) file with a suitable program. Please see the user information supplied with your portable device for more details.
