Bosch EFR 3 (EMS 3) Electronic engine control

Read out fault memory
Prerequisites:
  • Vehicle at standstill
  • Turn system selector switch to EFR position (see electrical key)
  • Switch drive switch off and on again (drive switch to step 2, drive position)
Fault output via EFR fault lights (yellow):
  • Hold down check key (red) for at least two seconds. The fault is output as a Flashing code.
Notes: The flashing code output is restricted to the most recent fault before "Drive switch on". This means: to read out a fault which occurs during the journey, the vehicle must be stopped as soon as possible at a suitable point, engine and drive switch off, to call up the Flashing code output as described above.
Important! The following digital inputs are not monitored:
  • Brake light switch (in off state, must be at the earth input)
  • Engine braking switch
  • Clutch switch
  • Switch for no load cancellation
  • Retarder function
The engine actuator control unit (pins 1 and 10 on control unit) is also not monitored

Clear fault memory
  • Press and hold down the check key with the drive switch at off,
  • switch on the drive switch (step 2, drive position),
  • release the check key after at least two seconds.
