Meaning of the fault codes

  FC Meaning Effects Possible causes
Fault level 2:1
1 internal fault safe state, function lamp is off.
  1. ROM-CRC fault
  2. RAM read/write fault (switching on initializing)
  2 not used -- --
Fault level 1:1
3 Damping fault in the control unit Emergency damping is active.
  1. No load fault.
  2. Short circuit fault
4 Low pressure threshold breached Emergency damping is active.
  1. Pressure constantly too low for at least 1 second
5 Incorrect settings Emergency damping is active, emergency running parameter set is active.
  1. Parameter write fault
  2. Parameter read fault
  3. Parameter checksum fault
  4. Parameter threshold fault
6 10 volts reference outside nominal value articulation and steering angle-dependent function is switched off, emergency damping is active.
  1. Pressure constantly too low for at least 1 second
7 articulation angle defective articulation angle-dependent function is switched off, emergency damping is active.
  1. Outside initializing
8 Steering angle defective steering angle-dependent function is switched off, emergency damping is active.
  1. Outside initializing
9 B7/D3 signal incorrect speed-dependent function is switched off, emergency damping is active.
  1. cannot be assessed
  2. no signal despite change of articulation angle
  3. Speed is over 150 km/h
  4. Signal has dropped out without warning
10 Start-up blocking fault in the control unit Emergency damping is active.
  1. Switch-on fault
  2. Switch-off fault
11 DKV fault Emergency damping is active.
  1. DKV permanent low
  2. DKV permanent high
  3. DKV implausible (switch-on initializing)
12 EGAS analogue fault in the control unit Emergency damping is active.
  1. Actual value exceeds nominal value
13 EGAS switching fault in the control unit Emergency damping is active.
  1. Switch-on fault
  14 not used -- --
Fault level 0:1
15 Emergency running switch held down Short warning through function lights
  1. Emergency running switch held down for at least 60 seconds
16 Warning buzzer fault in the control unit Short warning through function lights
  1. Switch-on fault
17 Function lights fault in the control unit Short warning from warning buzzer
  1. Switch-on fault
  18 not used -- --

1 Explanations of fault levels:
Level 0 (secondary faults)
Screen display and its meaning:
  • Function light flashes for 5 seconds => fault has cleared or is still present
  • Warning buzzer sounds for 5 seconds => function light is defective (special case)
Fault effects:
  • Fault has no direct effect on the key function
  • The function light flashes for 5 seconds (short warning)
  • The system continues to function with no adverse effects
Level 1
Screen display and its meaning:
  • Function light flashes continuously and warning buzzer sounds for 5 seconds => fault is still present
  • Warning buzzer sounds for 5 seconds => fault is no longer present
Fault effects:
  • Fault has a direct effect on the key function
  • The function light flashes continuously (constant warning), warning buzzer sounds for 5 seconds
  • At least the emergency damping is active.
  • The articulation protection function is restricted.
Level 2
Fault effects:
  • Level 2 faults are function-critical faults
  • The function light stays on2
  • The control unit takes up the neutral or safe state
  • There is no damping
2 Comment: The function light also stays on if the plug is pulled out of the control unit (disconnection detection)
